Students are streamed by age and ability and are tested at the beginning of the course and placed in a class of the appropriate level. During the course, teachers monitor students’ progress and an academic report and a certificate are awarded at the end of the course. Our syllabus is designed to suit the needs of our students, providing them with practical language skills. The aim of the course is to improve English comprehension skills, along with grammar and pronunciation,as well as building confidence in communicating through English.
General English classes are comprised of three hours per day of teaching time, five days per week. All English teachers are suitably qualified and our courses are accredited by the British Council for the teaching of English in the UK.
Language Activities In addition to General English classes, all students on the English plus Activity courses experience a wide range of activities designed to give them the opportunity to develop new skills, whilst using their spoken English in a specific context. Students move on to a new activity each day, including: journalism, creative writing/storytelling, mindfulness workshops, vlogging, cookery, drama, and arts and crafts. This course is a fully-inclusive programme designed for children aged 8-17. It will improve your child's English, whilst offering them the chance to spend time practising the sport that they love, alongside taking part in other group activities and excursions. They will have the chance to make friends from all over the world and experience new cultures in a safe, secure campus environment. The Summer Course plus Horse Riding is run at the beautiful Downside School, near the historic city of Bath. For horse riding students will receive tuition at a locally approved stables in walking, trotting, cantering, jumping, hacking and horse management (according to level).
Sherborne Language School is a new innovative summer school for students aged 8-17. Bede's Eastbourne centre is located on the coast, in the seaside town of Eastbourne and safely connected to the beach. This compact centre, founded as the first Bede’s School in 1895, has the feel of a family home and offers a safe and welcoming environment for our youngest students. Bede's Summer School Windlesham is set in beautiful grounds which extend over many acres of the Sussex Downs countryside of West Sussex, between the villages of Washington and Findon, north of the town of Worthing.
The spacious campus, which welcomes up to 130 students per week, creates a real sense of freedom and connection to nature. Combined with the secure and safe location, this makes Windlesham the perfect site for young children who want to be part of a small, lively community. Young people’s innate curiosity about the natural world can be harnessed to engage them about their relationship with nature and present and future global ecological challenges.
In this programme, our students develop their English communication skills through their experience of learning about, and learning in nature. This fully-inclusive programme includes sports and activities every afternoon. Professional academies are available in a variety of sports and other activities. The evening entertainment programme provides an opportunity for recreation and fun and is designed to immerse students in the English language and culture in a stimulating and innovative way. Excursions enable students to visit places of interest. These can include a cultural visit to a castle, museum or palace, a visit to a popular tourist attraction such as Big Ben, the London Eye, Madame Tussauds or something more recreational such as a trip to an aquarium, theme park or zoo.
The Junior Academic course offers young students a fun and hands on learning experience. Specially designed to engage young learners, this course offers a range of stimulating learning experiences in English.
Class sizes are small (maximum 10 students per class) and students are taught by specialist teachers, offering a range of subjects from Art, DT and Performing Arts to Science, Mathematics, ICT and Humanities. Students will receive 15 hours of English plus 10 hours of other academic subjects per week.
Aimed at encouraging experiential and thematic learning, students will spend at least one afternoon a week outside the classroom on project work in the local environment. Fun, active and stimulating, this course will build confidence in communicative English as well as preparing students academically.
This course is ideal as a stand-alone course for students who wish to boost their English level and confidence or for those wishing to enter into the British independent school system.

The Summer School has been running since 1970 at Hurtwood House, a family run boarding school with an international reputation for academic excellence and fantastic facilities. The Summer School offers structured and lively English language teaching combined with a fun and interesting range of trips and activities. The school is in an idyllic, safe location in the Surrey countryside within easy reach of London.
This is a resisential course. All levels of English catered for. Not suitable for English native speakers.

The Glastonbury Campus is ideal for younger children who want to improve their English whilst making friends from all over the world and take part in a wide range of sports and other activities. Morning options inlcude General English or Academic Explorers which is suitable for children from age 9-11 with a higher level of English and involves improving language skills through studying other academic subjects.
The school is located in Glastonbury and excursions are arranged to local castles, museums and amusement parks. This is a residential course with 24-hour supervision. Afternoon activities include cooking, dance, football, golf, horse riding, swimming, tennis, and outdoor adventurers.* The course is held on the campus of Millfield Prep Schoo which has fantastic facilities including a riding arena and climbing wall.
* Students are assessed on arrival and put into the appropriate level group for Academic Explorers.
* There is an option of taking a Trinity exam. This can be taken at the end of week 2 and 4. The exam is a spoken exam, however not mandatory.
* The option for horse riding is available to the Street campus.
* The Glastonbury campus offers a petting of the horses.
