Since 2012, Stonyhurst has united pupils from across the world to experience a Summer like no other. There are two programme routes on offer to cater for different interests – the English with Activities programme and the English with Tennis course. Pupils can explore the English language and develop life skills through lessons, activities and cultural excursions.
All teachers are fully qualified teachers and support each child in their individual learning journey, aiming to improve pupils’ language skills and increase their confidence. Pupils are assigned to a small class of pupils with similar levels of English and their progress is continuously monitored and teaching is tailored accordingly.

This programme is designed for children looking to improve their English Language alongside tennis tuition. In selecting this course, pupils have access to Stonyhurst’s high-performance facilities which include a tennis dome which houses 2 Grand Slam tennis courts and intensive coaching delivered by a team of Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) Senior Performance Tennis and Academy Coaches.

BLC International have teamed up with the Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion to enable students to train with their FA/UEFA coaches at the American Express Elite Performance Centre every morning. Afternoons are English lessons at the city centre school followwed by activities and excursions with the Summer Vacation students.

This well-established summer school is idea for young people who want to improve their English language skills in a beautiful and safe environment. By taking part in engaging and interactive sessions, students will improve their command of English vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation; as well as developing their reading, writing, and listening skills. The emphasis is on using English in practical circumstances through a variety of imaginative class activities, group projects, and weekly class assignments.
The idyllic setting of Canford School gives students a traditional British boarding school experience. Outside the classroom, an exciting programme of activities is planned daily taking advantage of the fantastic facilities at the school which include a theatre, sports centre and art studios as well as a heated indoor swimming pool. There are also excursions to famous UK cities, including London and an evening visit to a local water park.
Students are streamed by age and ability and are tested at the beginning of the course and placed in a class of the appropriate level. During the course, teachers monitor students’ progress and an academic report and a certificate are awarded at the end of the course. Our syllabus is designed to suit the needs of our students, providing them with practical language skills. The aim of the course is to improve English comprehension skills, along with grammar and pronunciation,as well as building confidence in communicating through English.
General English classes are comprised of three hours per day of teaching time, five days per week. All English teachers are suitably qualified and our courses are accredited by the British Council for the teaching of English in the UK.
Language Activities In addition to General English classes, all students on the English plus Activity courses experience a wide range of activities designed to give them the opportunity to develop new skills, whilst using their spoken English in a specific context. Students move on to a new activity each day, including: journalism, creative writing/storytelling, mindfulness workshops, vlogging, cookery, drama, and arts and crafts. Classes last for 90 minutes and focus on the development of speaking and listening skills.
