Abbotsholme School

The Abbotsholme Summer Boarding School Experience Programme is an immersive short course for students aged 11–17, offering an authentic introduction to British boarding school life in a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment. It is an excellent option for international students who wish to improve their English while experiencing life at a traditional UK boarding school.

The programme takes place on Abbotsholme’s beautiful 140-acre countryside campus in central England. Students live on site in comfortable boarding houses with full pastoral care, allowing them to experience the routines, independence, and sense of community that define boarding school life. Parents can be reassured that student wellbeing and safety are central to the programme.

Academically, the programme focuses on General English, with lessons designed to develop practical communication skills, confidence, and fluency. English is used throughout the day — in lessons, activities, and boarding life — ensuring a fully immersive learning environment. Teaching is interactive and suitable for a range of English levels.

Beyond the classroom, students enjoy a wide range of on-site activities, including sports, arts and crafts, drama and dance, climbing wall sessions, kayaking, and structured team-building challenges. These activities help students build confidence, leadership, and teamwork skills while having fun and trying new experiences.

A major highlight of the programme is the inclusion of five full-day excursions, offering students the chance to explore some of the UK’s most iconic destinations. Trips include visits to Liverpool, Warwick Castle and Stratford-upon-Avon, Alton Towers theme park, and a weekend trip to London, including an overnight hotel stay. These excursions enrich the learning experience, bring British culture and history to life, and create lasting memories.

Students join a diverse international community, forming friendships with peers from around the world and developing cross-cultural awareness, independence, and strong social skills. The shared boarding experience encourages personal growth and confidence in a supportive setting.
