The Intensive English Summer Course
This Intensive English Summer Course is specifically designed for international students aged 12–17, covering all ability levels from A1 to C2. This flagship course seamlessly combines engaging, topic-based English lessons with specialized, language-focused subject classes. Students will significantly improve their English fluency and accuracy, expand their academic vocabulary, and explore exciting topics.

In 2026, Sherborne will proudly celebrate the 34th anniversary of this pioneering course, the first intensive English summer school of its kind for international students.

Who Is This Course For?   This course is ideal for students who:

- Wish to enhance the fluency and accuracy of their spoken and written English.

- Are considering joining a British independent school and want to improve their English language skills, including academic language needed for subject lessons.

- Are currently at a UK school but want to further develop their English skills during the holidays.

- Want to experience independent school life and culture in a safe environment while socializing with students from diverse nationalities.

- Seek to acclimatize or get an academic boost before starting a UK school in September.

Accommodation and Setting
The course is set in the historic market town of Sherborne, a safe, beautiful, and rural location where students can enjoy local shops and cafes in their free time.

Students are accommodated in our Senior Houses, which are the Sherborne Boys boarding houses, with separate buildings for girls and boys. Each house provides a communal living environment with large lounges, kitchens, games rooms, and spacious outdoor areas. Accommodation includes some small dorms, but mostly double rooms, and single rooms (for older students). Staff live on-site to ensure excellent supervision, and automatic locks maintain building security.

Living in a community seven days a week is a special part of the experience. Students forge strong bonds, valuing their House as a home base where they are encouraged to be fully themselves. Bed linen is provided, but students should bring their own towels. All boarding houses are within a five-minute walk of the main school campus.

Excursions and Activities
Excursions are a major component of the student experience, taking place on Thursdays and Sundays for our main summer programmes. These trips are tailored to showcase both the traditional UK tourist attractions and the best of the South-West of England.

Students also have access to the world-class facilities of Sherborne Boys, including a multi-million-pound sports centre. A huge variety of sports and activities are offered daily, allowing students to choose options such as:

Sports: Football, Basketball, Tennis, Swimming, Horse Riding, Sailing, Kayaking.

Creative/Leisure: Drama Club, Art Club, Golf Simulator, Yoga.
