IGCSE & GCSE Mid-Course Booster

The IGCSE & GCSE Mid-Course Booster is an intensive academic programme designed to give students, who have successfully completed Year 10 (the first year of the two-year GCSE/IGCSE course), a confident and successful start to their final, crucial year of studies. This course is for international students aged 13 to 17 who already have a strong grasp of English (CEFR level B1 and above).

Targeted Academic Revision

The Booster course focuses on revisiting material covered in Year 10 while introducing key topics for the upcoming Year 11 curriculum, increasing student motivation and reducing stress ahead of the final exams.

Intensive Tuition: Students receive 30 lessons (22.5 hours) of tuition per week.

Subject Focus: Students choose four core subjects to study intensively. Subjects typically include:
* Biology
* Chemistry
* Physics
* Mathematics
* English

Small Classes: Like all Sherborne International courses, class sizes are kept very small (maximum 8 students, often 6) to ensure individualized attention and targeted help with difficult or complex topics.

Communication Skills: Students also attend lessons in Drama to develop crucial confidence in self-presentation and oral communication skills required for exams and future study.

Flexible Course Options

Students can enrol for 2, 4, or 6 weeks during the summer.

Students may choose to study the same four subjects for the full duration, or select different subjects across different two-week sections. Crucially, subject topics do not repeat between schedules, ensuring continuous learning and maximizing the academic benefit.

Boarding and Co-Curricular Life

The course is set within the Sherborne Boys campus in the beautiful market town of Sherborne. Students are housed in the Senior Boarding Houses (separate buildings for boys and girls), providing an immersive experience of traditional British boarding school life and culture.

The all-inclusive fee covers:

- Accommodation and Meals: Full-board accommodation and all meals within the supervised Senior Houses.
- Activities: Access to **world-class sports facilities and a comprehensive programme of sports (like swimming, football, and tennis) and creative activities (like art and drama).
- Excursions: Two excursions per week (Thursdays and Sundays), offering cultural trips to historic sites and attractions across the South-West of England.
- Pastoral Care: Dedicated staff live in the boarding houses, providing 24/7 supervision and care.
