Sherborne School

This Pre-IGCSE/GCSE Summer Course provides targeted academic support for international students aged 13 to 17 who are either starting, or preparing for, their formal IGCSE or GCSE examinations in the UK.

1 This course is for students who already possess a good level of English (CEFR level B1 and above) and want to challenge themselves academically.
2 Academic Focus and Structure: The curriculum is specifically designed to provide students with the foundational subject knowledge and essential study skills necessary for success in their next academic year.
3. Students select four core subjects from a broad list, which typically includes:
- English Language and English Literature
- Sciences: Biology, Chemistry, Physics;
- Mathematics: Maths, Further Maths;
- Humanities/Business: History, Geography, Business Studies
- ICT/Computer Science,

Students receive 6-7 lessons per week in each of their four chosen subjects, plus additional lessons focused on drama to aid communication and confidence. Students can attend for 2, 4, or 6 weeks. An advantage of our flexible scheduling is that students can choose to study the same four subjects for the entire duration, or select different subjects in consecutive two-week sections. Importantly, subject topics do not repeat, ensuring continuous learning and exposure to new material.

All lessons benefit from our commitment to very small class sizes (typically 6-8 students), guaranteeing highly experienced teachers can provide personalized guidance and attention.

Accommodation, Life, and Activities
Students on the Pre-IGCSE & GCSE course are accommodated in the Senior Houses (Sherborne Boys boarding houses) on the main Sherborne campus, with separate buildings for boys and girls. This provides an authentic taste of life at a traditional British boarding school.
The historic market town of Sherborne offers a beautiful setting, and the full course fee includes the complete co-curricular programme:
- Excursions: Full-day trips on Thursdays and Sundays explore the best of the South-West and classic UK tourist attractions.
- Facilities: Students gain access to world-class sporting and leisure facilities, including a new multi-million-pound sports centre.
- Activities: A wide choice of daily activities and sports are available, such as swimming, tennis, football, kayaking, climbing, and art club, ensuring a balanced and fun experience.

The all-inclusive fee covers accommodation, meals, all tuition, study materials, activities, excursions, laundry, and scheduled airport transfers.
