About This Course
Hurtwood House Summer School is a family run English Language Summer Course set in the beautiful Surrey Hills about 1 hour away from London. Since being founded in 1970, Hurtwood House has been known as 'The most exciting Summer School in England' and this reputation is as true now as it was 50 years ago.
Now run by Harvey Jackson, grandson of founder Richard Jackson, Hurtwood offers students interactive and engaging English classes alongside an unrivalled activities program. The crew works hard throughout the year to come up with new and thrilling activities so that every summer is unique and there is always something for everyone to enjoy. There is never a dull moment at Hurtwood House.
The best advocates for any Summer School are its students and at Hurtwood House, the students come back summer after summer!
Hurtwood is famous for having the most exciting activities program in the UK and after a morning in the classroom, students enjoy the contrast of a physically active afternoon. The activities programme on offer varies every day and continues well into the evening. Whether it is sports such as football, tennis or horse riding, activities such as go karting, lazer tag, bowling or indoor skydiving, in house activities like competition nights and discos or even a trip to the best theme park in the UK, the fun never stops!
One of the highlights of every week is the excursion to London. What other Summer School offers a weekly, all expenses paid trip to the capital? Depending on their interests students may shop or choose from a list of alternatives such as Covent Garden or The Natural History Museum. An early dinner is then followed by a trip to the famous West End to see a musical or a recently released film.
Hurtwood is an all-inclusive experience and the wide variety of excursions and activities on offer are provided at no extra cost.
It is possible stay for one week - but most students stay for two

'Both children came home beaming, filled with stories, new friendships, and lasting impressions supported by pictures showing them during different activities. They felt cared for, seen, and part of something vibrant and special. The warm atmosphere, the loving attention from all the staff, the inspiring afternoon activities, and the delicious meals — all contributed to an experience they will never forget. They said ‘it was the best time of my life’. We couldn’t be more thankful'
'My daughter came back home very happy and full of enthusiasm about the wonderful experience she had — though also quite sad, as she didn’t want to come home! That, to me, speaks volumes about how welcome and comfortable she felt at Hurtwood' Parent from Spain
